Hello, my name is Emily and I'm currently a study abroad student in Japan. I'm originally from Southern California and before studying abroad I was a fourth-year Asian Humanities student at UCLA. I've studied Japanese throughout college and high school (around 4 or 5 years) but I still feel like I have a lot to learn and I really want to improve my speaking skills! Aside from Japanese, I do know a little bit of Korean and Spanish but Japanese is definitely my focus right now as I want to try living/working here after I'm done with school. Hello! I'm very new to language exchange and serious language study in general, so I can't offer much in the way of experience. However, I am fascinated by linguistics and I can find practically everything interesting, so chances are we'll be compatible. I can keep a somewhat awkward conversation going in Spanish and I can barely be qualified as a beginner in Finnish, but that won't stop me from trying my hardest to keep you engaged in every interaction we share. I love music (electronic/experimental in particular), walking, knots, and obscure areas of knowledge, among many others. Hello!
Languages are beautiful to me, and I want to learn as many as I can. Currently I am focusing on Japanese, Korean, Chinese(Taiwanese dialect), and Vietnamese. I have friends that speak these languages and I would like to be able to communicate with them and their families better.
I also enjoy lots of music, and I use music to help me with language learning. So, if you have any recommendations please let me know them!
I have alot of hobbies that I enjoy. I really like baking, and creating recipes. I also enjoy learning about technology, travel, photography, and teaching children.
