I am a retired editor, writer and library worker. My mother was born in Berlin in 1926 but came to England in 1937. I am studying German - and am A2.1 level - whatever that means. It's speaking that I find hardest, so would like to find someone encouraging who can cope with my rather basic attempts to make conversation. In return, I'm happy to help someone at pretty much any level, to improve their English. I'm interested in the arts, film, politics, walking etc. I mainly use Zoom for linking up with people remotely, but can be flexible.

Hey! My name is Ira (pronounced as 'ee-ra').
I'm currently based in Manchester but occasionally travel back home to Ukraine.
I can speak English at a decent level, but I'm always up for practicing it whenever possible.
As my side project, I'm learning Japanese; for now, it's more of a travel-oriented kind of learning, but I hope I will continue doing it after my Japan trip.
I also used to study Chinese for a few years, but I put it on hold temporarily.
Happy to practice any of those languages and meet fun people along the way.
