I'm going to rewrite this in a few days on my first day away from work, 2018-09-13. I feel like this is a little bit of a mess and I want to clean it up.

Hi there! My name’s David and I live in Phoenix, Arizona, though with luck I’ll move to another state in the pacific Northwest by mid-2019. I grew up in Kelso, Washington, and even though I have been in Phoenix for nearly 10 years I still haven’t been able to adjust to living in a desert. I miss green trees! I miss rain!
Interestingly, my hometown acts as a sister city to Makinohara Japan in the Shizuoka prefecture. ...to be fair, I only know that because we had a Japanese exchange student when I was in high school. We didn’t show nearly as much pride in our international friendship as I feel we should have. Kelso is also a sister city to Kelso, Scotland, but I didn’t find that out until years after I had moved away!
I work as an internal auditor at an Amazon warehouse. We aren’t nearly as busy as a traditional warehouse at the moment because we are currently undergoing construction. I do still work long hours, from 17:30 to 04:30 four days a week with an occasional additional day. While I tend to be active at unusual hours in America, they are more normal elsewhere. For example, when I wake up at 16:00 here, it’s 07:00 in Japan.
On my days off of work, I like to cook, chat with my friends on Skype and play video games on my PC. Recently I’ve mostly been playing Warframe, though I’m thinking about playing Stardew Valley again. My friends and I used to play tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons and Pokemon Tabletop United, but our work schedules don’t line up anymore. I also like to watch YouTube, read ebooks and listen to audiobooks. My dream is to write a series of science fantasy novels.
I would like to meet to meet people from cultures that are different in tone and structure to America no matter where in the world that is.. I’m happy to be an e-pen pal, exchange actual postcards or chat in some other manner. Please forgive my lack of actual Japanese, though; I haven’t used that since high school so I expect I’m less skilled than a toddler now. I am, however, fluent in American english and would be happy to chat with you to improve your own conversational english.
I will not discriminate based on age, gender, race or nationality but understand that I focus completely on work four days of the week and will not be able to respond promptly during that time.
